Jack

When we moved into our house we bought it from developers. Our neighbour told us that the previous occupant, Jack, had lived there for many, many years, that the house had never been updated and that when Jack died the developers bought the house stripped it down, refurbished it (left the original Victorian stuff, fortunately) and sold it on to us. We don't know whether Jack died in the house but every so often a door will creek open unaided and we look and one another and say "come on in Jack". I think a more likely answer is the cold draft that whooshes up through the floorboards at this time of year, but the dead Jack story is a better one. We even received christmas cards for poor Jack for several years after we moved in. They never contained a return address so that we couldn't let people know, but we used to put the cards up in case Jack was watching!

Is that Jack's shadow at the bottom of the door? I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight. Nice photograph.

Nicely composed and framed, with good use of light and shadow.

The door is nice, and the shadow adds texture - but the Jack thing, I don't know! I'd sure be nervous! Time for some Feng Shui.
