The Cliveden Estate presents many changing photo opportunities throughout the year. But during winter the valuable works of art are covered for frost protection. Also several grass pathways are blocked for fear of damage and to assist recovery.
In April you will find some bluebells* in the woods, although difficult to find without guidance. The flower borders* are unique and bloom all summer long, as does the violet flowerbeds in 'the long garden'. In autumn you find superb views overlooking a stud farm* and distant hills. Late autumn the chinese garden* blinds the eye with colours of red to gold.
The woods are quite un-photogenic. For non NT members there is a woodland carpark than enables free entry to the Clivedon estate, but its a long walk each way. Nevertheless you get to stroll along the River Thames*, the boat house, etc.
In the main carpark visitor's shop you can purchase (or study) the Cliveden Fountain-of-Love* poster which serves as a challenge for all photographers.
