always had doubts about having that many elements in the glass construction...but the performance really proves it otherwise. great all round performer

I have been using it for two years on D200, a really faithful lens. But, what about mounting it on the D700, not a bit disapointing around the center and in the corners?

Let me know please.

I've owned this lens for a year now and everytime I use it I am amazed at it's performance! IT is the sharpest glass I've ever used, focuses quickly, and the VR works great!!

Cons? Yes...it is HEAVY and EXPENSIVE!!

Is it worth it? If you are serious about making excellent images...yes it is!!

Can I say that I simply love this lens??

Truly amazed, I've been working with mine sinse a few months alredy. I bought this lens because I had problems with my old Nikon 80-200 f:2,8 and I though it was time to change it. The truth is that I thought it was difficult to match the old one, but this new 70-200 has a much greater definition and over all quality in general. Yes, I know it is awfally expensive but it's quite worthed it's a great surprise when you use it.

Unbelievable perfect glass. I'm having 2nd one, brand new from US and now I'm pretty sure - I will never sell this lens !!! I would love to stay with my 2 glasses as much as I will resist, 17-55 + 70-200 - I don't need anything else,. This couple it's just suitable for me,. Almost all images from both of those lenses are with an exceptional quality and exposure + very nice bokeh as an additional BIG PLUS :o) I wish I could have another 2.8 lens soon, like 17-35 or my "dream team": 50 or 85 mm 1.4 Zeiss Planar * .... hm ... time time time ... and lot of money :)

Cheers,.

It's not so simple to use this lens =) Many of my friends say it's very blurry ! Because it's very heavy for them =)But it's really perfect thing !!!

I tested one from store. Maybe I get bad sample, or maybe that one have focusing problem. It ruined my every desire to buy one. Have anyone compared it to Nikon 50mm f1.8 if set both lenses at f5.6? Thank you.

Una maravilla de lente. La calidad merece su precio. Lo único malo es su peso.

I love this lens "IS SHARP" I was able to shoot my daughters first stage performance using VR and F2.8. The pictures look very sharp. I'm impressed. Yes, the lens with my D200 is quite heavy.

Why a Canon 500D is needed if you want to shoot closeups with this lens :>http://www.nikonmount.com/9/nikkor-70-200mm-canon-500d-close-up-lens

Yes, this lens is already legend, and no, it's not just a bunch of people trying to justify spending a whole lot of cash on a lens. Make no mistake, this lens is BIG and expensive. It's not fitting into your travel bag nor is it at home at a friend's party. For that bring the 18-70mm, 28-200G or just bring a cheaper P&S type camera in case you spill beer on it!
The 70-200 VR is a pro level lens that gets almost everything right. It's size is the byproduct of an optical design that really makes few, if any compromises. This lens is SHARP...as sharp as my 50mm prime and sharper wide open that you might believe or expect. On a D70 the focus is lightening fast and quite exact. Color rendition is the best I've seen. I do much less post processing when this baby is on the Nikon D70s

A zoom that works beyond expectations. Can be coupled with Nikon's 1.7x teleconverter for 340mm while maintaining good AF and VR performance.

Optically excellent, another outstanding Nikon zoom. The Vibration Reduction works amazingly well. One of my favorite lenses.
