Late 1930s - the passenger launch "Biscayne" following a barge in the Miami Canal next to Hialeah

This image is a William A. Fishbaugh photograph donated to the Florida State Archives. I cropped and enhanced it for website display. I presume that the hill of fill on the right side came from dredging the Miami Canal to deepen it for boat traffic. The "Biscayne" looks awfully top-heavy and could easily flip over in a turn.
