A Few Moments Spent Annoying My Mare*

This wasn't quite what I had in mind, but thought I'd post it anyways.
I wanted an elegant portrait of my gray mare,
with a purple fabric something draped on her pretty silver self.
I opted for just a small purplish sash as I thought it would irritate her less than what I originally thought of using.
But she wasn't impressed.
And spent the few moments I tried this either walking away from me in disgust, or sticking her nose in the camera.
She's never been fond of cameras, they make funny noises...
I had her hair out of her eyes when I started, but that didn't last...

What a beautiful horse and well composed photograph. Such a pity that your "model" did not want to make a little more eye-contact. Lovely nevertheless. Regards ~jnconradie

Melanie, I like this. Do have one with the eyes exposed? I am just curious how that compares. My little daughter has a mare too, but she is nowhere as pretty yours. Enjoy. Sam Attal.

Wonderful shot, Melanie! This photo remings me so much of my Arabian mare "Just Mary". As you know, they will decide when they are ready to be photographed.
You caught her at just the right moment. Larry

Thank you Julie and Sharon. I tried to get a more interesting drape/position to the sash (I mean it's expandable and has fringe and everything!), but everytime I'd adjust it--she'd walk away again and it would end up hanging straight down. My original thought was to use the purple swag I used in another shot, as it's longer, wider, flowing...all that good stuff. But I didn't want to press my luck... --Melanie

A wonderful story to go along with a very nice image. I do think the horse might have needed a scarf that was more in scale with her marvelous stature. YOu are lucky to have such a friend, even if she is camera shy! ~Sharon

The hair over her eyes is good. Makes her look like a modern young chick, dressed up for a favourite outing.
