Huge crop since I was using completely the wrong lens when this girl appeared to improve the shot.

I have seen walls made from old railway containers, the ones that were used to transport coal, filled with concrete and "stacked" along to fortify such cliffs, this prevented the etching out of the bottom of the cliff face due to waves. Wonder why they can not just move the houses. Cool pic though. Richard

The timber walls were built as sea defences to prevent erosion of the sandstone cliffs. Unfortunately they are beginning to fail themselves and the cliff is continuing to erode with the gradual loss of properties during the winter storms. Renewing the sea defences is proving difficult to justify on cost grounds. http://www.happisburgh.org.uk/ has some more information.

I really like this image. Great "feel" to it. Can I ask what are those walls there for? I have an idea but am waiting on your confirmation. Thanks and great image.
