Slightly tattered butterfly

Looking slightly tattered, but happy to pose for me in the sunshine
and be my first butterfly shot!

Well... where the heck was I when you posted this? congrats! the tattered look is caused by encounter with a bird; no, they don't live only two days.

Great shot! Looks like you've been shooting them forever. One summer I took hundreds of pics and ended up with about 10 keepers. And here you nail it on your first try.

A beauty Cliff. Did I read somewhere that their life span is only 2 days? Can you imagine cramming 80+ years into 2 days. No wonder they are so beautiful.

Being tattered makes it more unique and the pictures has more impact.
It's a little melancholy too, as a metaphor of time flying away...
