Vennel 4 - Carry On Up The Khyber!

Stromness, Mainland

Stromness is a strangling lateral town built on the shore of Hamnavoe; an old fishing port, it has many alley-ways, gunnels, vennels, closes or passes running from the harbourside up to the main street, and from there up the braes behind the town.

Looking down these narrow closes gives a fascinating glimpse of life in Stromness and its dependence on Hamnavoe and Scapa Flow beyond

Great find and such a narrow pass!

It's perfect. What a shame it was taken too early :-(
I understand perfectly why you won't put it in the PF gallery though .

Why shouldn't you use it? I like it a lot. Well done.

I think you should post it in the Pink Floyd gallery. As long as you acknowledge the age of the photo, I don't think we'll mind!

Excellent find Doug. Chris is right, maybe you should post this in your PF gallery.

Very well seen and I'm sure you are not the only PBaser to post an older image.
