Dedicated on Oct. 26, 1906, this beautiful memorial has 60 bronze tabliets inside listing the names of the 36,325 Illinois soldiers who fought here at Vicksburg.
It is modeled after a Roman Pantheon with 47 steps leading up to its entrance: One step for every day of the Siege.
