Monarchos - 2001 Kentucky Derby Winner

Claiborne Farm in Paris, KY

The 100 year-old Claiborne Farm with 3200 acres is one of the last of the great horse farms that allows daily visitors. A phone call request was all that was needed. Our groom, Rodeo, met us and gave us a tour of the breeding barn, the stall where Secretariat resided, a tour of the cemetery, and an opportunity to meet the stallions currently residing at the farm.
Monarchos, winner of the 2001 Kentucky Derby with the second fastest time (Secretariat holds the record), was brought out to meet us. A stunning-looking horse he currently commands a $7500 cover fee for a live foal.
I made calls to Calumet, Mill Ridge, and Three Chimneys to request a visit. Calumet and Mill Ridge offer no tours at this time. Three Chimneys is up to 25,000 visitors this year alone due to everyone wanting to see Smarty Jones. They offer a couple tours a week.
If you plan on coming to Lexington and want to visit any of the horse farms, I'd suggest calling in advance to make your appointment.
