Kandula is an Asian elephant born as a result of artificial insemination. The zoo considered this event a huge success due to their dwindling population in the wild.

Young Kandula now stands at about six and a half feet tall at the shoulder and weighs about 4,250 pounds.
On this day we watched him play (very hot day!) and were told that he is making making a gradual transition away from his family.

Kandula entertained everyone playing for a long time in the water. Of all the photos I took, this is my favorite.
