Crater of Diamonds State Park

Murfreesboro

This is the only place in the world where you can dig for diamonds and keep what you find. It's the 8th largest diamond field in the world that also has lots of amethyst, agate, jasper, peridot, quartz, garnet, calcite, hematite, and barite. It's rockhound heaven.
John Huddleston, a local farmer who owned the land, found the first diamonds here in 1906.
You can rent digging equipment at the park and get instructions of the different dry and wet techniques for searching and off you go to the 37 acre plowed field to join LOTS of other diamond hunters!
Highly recommended, especially for kids.
