Mostrose Growth on a Double-Crested Saguaro

On the Cascabel Highway between Redington and Pomerene

Saguaros can occasionally develop in a grossly distorted way, termed mostrose growth. This cactus damage might have been caused by frost but may have been caused by an insect or other factor that disrupted the meristem.
A double-crested saguaro is not a common sight.
