Steinfeld House

300 N. Main Ave.

A good example of an affluent Tucson residence, this Spanish mission style brick stucco home was designed by architect Henry Trost. It was one of the first houses in Tucson to have a bathtub with piped-in water.
This was also the first OWL'S CLUB.

Tucson Daily Citizen, Dec 2, 1905. Mr. and Mrs. George W. Atkinson, old pioneers of Arizona and long resident in Santa Cruz county, have taken up their residence in Tucson, which will be their future home. Mr. Atkinson has purchased the old Steinfeld home on South Main street, where he and Mrs. Atkinson will be glad to see their friends.

I actually spent some time in this building. I guess I was about 9 or so. My mother worked for a company who had an office located in this building at the time. My brother and I used to play Hide-and-Seek there. We were attending St Ambrose Catholic School at the time. I really have enjoyed your pictures so much! I grew up in Tucson and remember a lot the places featured in the pictures. I am sad to see some business' no longer exist. Thank you so much
