Most native Australian trees are evergreen and in this climate (at least the one around Sydney) there's little reason to go into hibernation. It can get pretty chilly here in winter but there are seldom prolonged bouts of extreme cold. However there are plenty of non-native trees around as well, and here we see the droppings of what I strongly suspect to be a member of the Maple family.
Which is of course a reminder of where I need to be next northern autumn.

Update April 2024: I believe that this was back when I still had a strong inkling bordering on obsession to visit Canada, which is a long story in itself. Spoiler alert: Thus far that has never happened, and the odds don't look good in the future either.
