Authentic copy of United States Constitution

The above photo is an actual 223 year old copy of the "real" constitution. It is on display at the National Constitution Center behind glass with very low lighting.

From May to September 1787, the Constitutional Convention met in secret at Independence Hall in Philadelphia to develop a new constitution for the United States. James Madison played a key leadership role in these deliberations.
On September 17, 1787, the convention gave final approval to a proposed Constitution and adjourned.
A Philadelphia printer, Dunlap & Claypoole, was contracted to print 500 copies of the proposed Constitution for delivery to the Confederation Congress assembled in New York City.

Well, our leaders are trying to change it and kick out a lot that our forefathers fought so hard to come up with and what we've lived by for so long. It was good for 200 years...why not now? Love this image. I am all for the original.

Nice details on this image. Great that you were able to take a shot. Too bad things the politicians today do not act with the same kind of altruism and good faith that the men who signed this document did. :(((

Great historic addition to your gallery Steph, its funny how language has moved on but legal jargon has not changed much at all.

Still holds true even if our leaders ignore it.

This is amazing. I only wish some of today's politicians had as much respect for it as those that brought it into being. Thanks for sharing this Stephanie.
