SPEED

Display at Charles de Gualle airport.

The Concorde had an average cruise speed of Mach 2.02 (about 2,140 km/h or 1,330 mph) with a maximum cruise altitude of 18,300 metres (60,000 feet), more than twice the speed of conventional aircraft. The average landing speed was 298 km/h (185 mph, 160 knots). The Concorde flew from 1976 - 2003.

This plane was the pride of France (and Great Britain). It has very beautiful lines.

That's quite a large model airplane! 185 m.p.h. Explains why we felt like our heads were spinning when the pilot put on the brakes! Nice perspective & a great composition, Stephanie. V!

Yes, this is a real one. There is to be one at London-Heathrow too, but it is not yet ready to go on display.

Ahh, Concorde...I always wanted to go to New York for lunch on Concorde as a 50th birthday transatlantic treat, and be back home in time for tea and the 6 O'clock News...but I'll never do that now :o(( I envy you this view Stephanie, even though she wasn't flying!
