That bank has been in Windber since the early 1900s and actually sits on the corner where the original David J. Shaffer homestead was located, The house was across the corner where the present day municipal building is situated and the bank is where the Shaffer's barn was located.
The area all on 15th.St. where the bank, the Eureka Store, the Windber Area Museum, the old Electric Co. building,and the Windber Hotel, is all part of the historic district. A Windber resident can still walk into the bank and be known on a first name basis, treated as a friend, and know everyone else who comes into the bank. That is what a good home town bank is still like.

Yes, I believe you are right. It is across the street from the old Eureka Store. Do you remember that store? It was awesome.

Was this a bank around 1955 at the bottom of 15th street and caddy-corner from the Eureka store?
