Homemade Soft Pretzels (Brezels)

Have never made these before but Boris got me thinking about it.
Found a recipe by Alton Brown from the Food Network and decided to give it a try.
It is very similar to making bagels, which I have done before.

The pretzel dough is allowed to rise for about an hour, then the pretzels are formed and boiled in a combination of baking soda and water (no... I did not use lye!)
and then given an egg yolk glaze and topped with coarse pretzel salt.

Thought I would try them with some Jack Daniel's Honey Mustard with a hint of whiskey.

So here I am munching on one right now and it really is good!
Coming soon to "My Recipe Box"...

These look very nice in this well taken shot. One way of eating them in Bavaria is to slice them in half and eat them with butter.
