Northern Paper Wasp

Polistes fuscatus

This wingless wasp was marching aimlessly on top of our trash dumpster.
I placed it in the nearby pachysandra and a day or two later another, or the same, wingless wasp was again on top of the trash container.
Hard to say it was the same wasp but, if not, it was perhaps even stranger for two wingless wasps to appear at the same place.

What do you think happened to it's wings? Genetic anomaly?

Nice, Ann I would have mistaken it for an ant.
