Paul Taylor is a legendary innovater in the world of modern dance. He founded his Dance Company in 1954. Google him.
He rarely gives interviews and he very rarely is photographed. I was given 30 minutes to photograph him with two of his dancers in his New York studio.
I wanted to get a portrait to go with the other images. The studio had a row of windows and a black curtain at one end.
I asked him to stand by the window with the black curtain as a background and his face, etched with decades of dance experience, did the rest.
