PaD January - Black and White
This view has an odd mix of old and new buildings.
Following the street from right to left:
The commercial building on the corner and the columned Federal
Court House are obviously old.
The striped building is confusing to someone new to the city.
There once was a plan to demolish City Hall and build something new.
A protest arose and the town leaders backed off, they would save
the tower and facade. What is original is the tower and the section
to its right. A newer section is the narrow slice to the left of the tower.
Note they tried to match the reddish brown stripes (you will have to
take my word on the color) but failed miserably on the width of the stripes.
That section had a few tall windows. For the left and newest section
they gave up even trying to match the windows!
The tall Financial Center of Connecticut (a rather presumptuous name)
ended the beauty of the block.
