6th July, Whisky Galore

This wreck reminds me of one of my favourite old films,
we are staying on an island off the west coast of Scotland.

Nice shot. I like the crop.

Was this a genuine shipwreck?, or was it placed there to attract tourists and photographers. Either way, it works very well.
Zak09-Aug-2005 20:30

Image superbe, journalistique, esthétique et évocatrice
On imagine la tempête ou une attaque de pirate en mer de chine

The composition is brilliant and the image is is actually
making me sad... this scenario seems so lost cause so hopeless...that hurts a bit.
Very well done, my friend.

excelent shoot

The name of the boat is the SS Tiree if anyone is interested. Great shot I wish I was able to get a good close up. Wonderful pictures and galleries.

Very nicely and carefully framed -- I did notice the central strut going straight into the corner. The dipping waterline cheats a little by emphasising the boat angle, but you get away with it. Overall, this is an arresting and memorable image.

In between Isles of Arran and Bute.

Beautiful color. I like the soft mountain in the background with the shape of the boat in front. Is this a lake or on the sea?
Stu07-Jul-2004 20:44
The boat will soon be gone, by the looks of things... there's a little less of it every time I see it.
Linda Mingay07-Jul-2004 20:06
fab indeed

excellente photo, j'aime beaucoup
jypsee07-Jul-2004 14:32
A boat photo is always nice; the way you put the rigging off the frame is great!!
Jill07-Jul-2004 13:08
Majestic history and excellent photography.
Kenneth Zimmerman07-Jul-2004 12:46
Sad to see such a grand ship in that situation.
katwilkens07-Jul-2004 12:26
Interesting photo!
Gayle P. Clement07-Jul-2004 11:41
Wonderful shot. The ship is nicely framed by the mountains.
Larry Ahern07-Jul-2004 11:15
That's a great shot!!
Guest 07-Jul-2004 11:13
Very interesting, nice capture!
Adalberto Tiburzi07-Jul-2004 11:06
So your suggestion is the sailors were drunk? (LOL)
virginiacoastline07-Jul-2004 10:29
it IS interesting how the curves of the ship mimic the curves of the mountains =] . . maybe this is saying "don't drink and, umm, navigate"
Adalberto Tiburzi07-Jul-2004 10:27
Nice the curves of the ship related to those of the mountains, and the minimalistic two main colours.
But the title what does it mean, had this boat a load of bottles? Cool to take a bath then...
