I've always been a bookworm. Growing up the only child of book loving parents it was probably inevitable that I would bury myself in books. Visiting friends' houses, the first thing I would do was examine their bookcases and to this day, I can't stop myself doing it when I'm in someone's house.
I've been dipping into this book of short stories by Canadian author Alice Munro for quite some time now. I like her stories of ordinary people, usually women, who often have an extraordinary secret in their past. Her characters are strong, resourceful, often outsiders, and always survivors.
