Sometimes it's simple pleasures like a good strong cup of coffee and a tasty muffin in a favourite
coffee shop which provides that little bit of pleasure in an otherwise drab day.
I wasn't at all sure what I was going to write when I sat down to post this. I knew this was going
to be my PAD image as it was the only photograph I'd managed to take today, a working day
spent mostly in court listening to the depressing stories of those whose lives have taken a turn
which results in them being on the wrong side of the law.
After dinner, which as it was presented to me on a cold winter's night when I walked in the door,
should rank as another simple pleasure, I decided to visit my 87 year old aunt before Christmas.
Although less steady on her feet, she still seems the same to me as when I visited her house as a
child. As we chatted and talked, I regretted not visiting her more often. How easy it is to get
caught up in our busy lives, in obsessions such as photography and pbase, to forget the important
things like reaching out to those we love. That is a simple pleasure that we can all enjoy if we
just take the time to get off the hamster wheels we have made for ourselves.
