Forgotten moments

For the Thursday Challenge
As often happens this wasn't the picture I had planned but as I rummaged amongst some storage boxes
I came upon these old negative envelops which had belonged to my mother. Perfect, I thought, for the TITC.
As I examined them I realised they were more perfect than I had first thought as they revealed a piece of family history that I had forgotten or perhaps never knew about. I did know that my mother had cousins in Liverpool and had visited them on a number of occasions. There is a really cute photograph of her as a little girl with Shirley Temple curls standing beside an older cousin who worked as a cartoonist for a Liverpool newspaper and was, I think, killed on board a ship during the Second World War. But what I didn't know was that the family had a newsagents and ladies hairdressing business which also developed film! I googled the address and there is still a newsagents at 140 Warbreck Moor in Liverpool but I couldn't find any trace of distant Liverpuddlian cousins!

It's so fascinating to look at pictures of then young but now long gone relatives. What precious things to have.

I was going to say I nearly photographed an old fashioned Kodak wallet for the scavenger hunt, but I didn't and it certainly didn't have any such fascinating story behind it!
