On the beach?

Not the most exciting of images I'll admit but my husband has spent the day working on putting gravel down in front of the house, so I thought the least I could do was pay tribute to his efforts. There has always been gravel at the entrance to our house but over the years it became kind of threadbare and the weeds kept popping up. As we don't like using 'nasty chemicals' we were fighting a losing battle and decided that more assertive action was needed. So we ordered several tons of gravel from a local quarry and the hard slog of clearing away the weed-infested earth began, followed by laying down black sheeting to prevent the weeds from growing, and finally putting down the gravel. It looks very well and I have been inspired to plant up some pots with heathers and other plants to provide some colour for the coming months. I even bought some bulbs today and am determined that I will actually plant them this year, so that they won't be found festering under the stairs next Spring!

So much to do! You got a fine photo of it with that red wheel and the green foliage.

After lugging all that gravel around I hope he gets a special meal! Nicely done.
