One of the most beautiful (and exciting) sights for me when birding
at Candaba wetlands are small dots in the horizon getting larger and
larger, going straight to my ambush position. My brain takes a few
seconds to process visual data before it declares "Philippine Ducks!"
My right hand automatically goes to the shutter button, my face gets
close to the viewfinder, the heart starts to pump faster, and system
(1DM2 + 500 f4 + 1.4x TC + a birdnut behind the VF) AI servo tracking
is commenced.
Most shots are either off-focus or the wing position is not ideal.
But sometimes, I get lucky and catch the fast flier in a full down-
stroke extension of the wings. I can almost see the powerful avian
muscles ripping ala Bruce Lee's under the feather pattern....
