As a general rule, you can tell if I think I’ve exceeded myself with a shockingly bad shot if I don’t bother to ‘sign’ the pic….it’s not always the case because sometimes I just forget but rest assured, today’s shot is quite definitely the former.
This is a sizable chunk of the DSHM - including a rare visit from Tom (far right), there because lightweight Olly was gadding around in Sweden apparently. (She says with her tongue firmly in her cheek – I can’t accuse anyone of ‘lightweightedness’ as I have only been to half a dozen games this season).
My ‘lucky’ run of games that I could get to was really due to our successes in the UEFA cup, as 5 of the 6 games I’ve been to were UEFA games, all played midweek of course. So, I am delighted that we made the quarter final and equally thrilled to have spent some time at ‘the Lane’ with all of my buddies, on both sides of the B&H bar.
Tonight then, it was tinged with sadness for me because the end of the cup run means I probably won’t get to another game this season and of course, as Al has already pointed out to me, we didn’t really do ourselves justice in the first half especially.
But, I’m not downhearted – I think we did well, last time we were in UEFA we were dumped out in the first round by a team I’d never even heard of before (I was at the first leg of that game too). We went out to the holders so no disgrace in my eyes there either.
I do think it’s probably just as well really that my run of games is at an end because I don’t think my liver could stand many evenings like this……
