Metallic wood-boring beetle (Agrilus cyanescens)

Found on an ash tree alongside a trail. These very small Buprestid beetles (about 8mm) are in the same Genus as the notorious emerald ash borer, which they resemble, but are smaller and blue, rather than larger and green. This species particularly likes honeysuckle, and it would be interesting if they were to help control the very invasive tartarian honeysuckle. They are, like the emerald ash borer, a European introduction.
