Beetles in the Subfamily Cryptocephalinae (Family, Chyrsomelidae), are named for the distinctive case in which the larva lives. The adult female covers her eggs with a protective dollop of fecal matter. When the eggs hatch, the larvae continue this method of protecting themselves, adding more and more feces around themselves. If you look at this little fecal case, you can just see legs peeping out from the front, clutching the leaf stem. I think the case is very pretty and well made!
