Evening primrose moth caterpillar (Schinia florida), #11164

This evening primrose moth caterpillar (Schinia florida), is digging into the top of an evening primrose plant. They normally eat the seeds in the seed pods and can be found by looking for holes in the sides of the pods. They blend in beautifully when stretched full length against a seed pod. As an adult (moth), they are spectacular: http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/145076129.
