Paper wasp (Polistes fuscatus) on goldenrod

This paper wasp was nectaring on goldenrod, along with a myriad of other insects, in Rockcliffe Park. When I stuck my camera up close it turned around and faced the camera almost as if posing. We were nose to nose for a few seconds!

A bunch of those almost ate up a wooden swing in 3 summers. WE could see the "teeth" marks in the soft wood. Excellent capture. Vµ
