Desolation Row

Bob Dylan recorded this epic song in 1965 on his first electric album, "Highway 61 Revisted." It is highly allegorical and there have been many interpretations.

For me, Desolation Row can be a place, a collection of people, a judgement or a state of mind.

You may find yourself on Desolation Row. I did. You may know people there. I do.

But one thing is true. "Nobody has to think too much about Desolation Row." Unless, like me, your camera takes you there.

I shot these images using a Mamiya RB67 with the Mamiya Sekor 150mm Soft Focus lens. I did it purposely to counteract the dark lyrics of the song and to add a sense of attraction to Desolation Row.

It may have worked too well. However, all the usual suspects loved their photos.

I may add new photos in the future but this is the bulk of the gallery now.

Disclaimer: All people appearing in this gallery are for character portrayal only. Any resemblance of the individuals to those in the lyrics is purely coincidental.
