For the Christmas Card Challenge
I have to share the story with this image...
My daughter and I found this the night before and
I knew I had to go back with my camera
and take a photo for the challenge.
What I failed to notice the first night,
was there was a lane right in front
of the house.
And, there was a line of cars driving by slowly
to view the light spectacular up close and personal!
I knew I had to do this after taking my photo.
So, I got back into my vehicle and drove down to the lane.
I had to chuckle at the sign that greeted me.
It stated, "Donations welcome...box at end"...
Who could blame them I thought, with that huge electric bill.
I drove by very slowly and took it all in.
From a distance, it appeared to be just Christmas lights.
Up close, there was an array of themes and decorations and the house was full of Holiday Spirit.
And to my surprise at the end of the darken lane, there stood the homeowners
with donation box in hand.
I was curious and I asked them, "How much does the electric bill run for all of this?"
The response amazed me...
The wife proceeded to inform me that the money collected was not
for their electric bill.
It was for needy local families to pay their heating bills!
And depending on the amount of donations they help 7 to 12 families in a given year!
The line of cars was too long to probe any longer.
I made sure they knew that I would be back again.
I gave my donation, but they gave me so much more.
I left there with my heart full of happiness and the true meaning of Christmas.
