(Macrodipteryx longipennis)
A stunningly bizarre nightjar. The breeding male bird photographed here has elongated inner primary feathers with a wire like shaft and broad feathered tips. Roosts on the ground during the day and becomes active at dusk. Photographed at Ngaoundaba Ranch. Video clip on http://ibc.hbw.com/ibc/index.html
