African Harrier Hawk

(Polyboroides typus)
The African Harrier Hawk, sometimes called a Gymnogene, is a large broad winged hawk with a loose floppy flight action. The bare skin around the face is normally yellow but turns pink or red when the bird is agitated. These rather poor photos were taken at the first water hole in the Waza National Park on a scorching hot afternoon.
