(Burhinus capensis)
Other name is Spotted Dikkop. A large thick-knee with spotted upperparts. Commonly found in open country but mostly nocturnal, roosting under cover during the day. Photographed at Waza National Park.
I'm a keen birder and came across your webpage while looking for some info on the Spotted Thick-knee. I live in South Africa and these birds are very common here. I took some very nice photos of a spotted thick-knee pair and their juvenile today. Later on I will post them on my blogspot (view via www.luzelle.co.za) .. at the moment uploading them to facebook.
Glad to see so many people in world caring for our feathered friends :)
