(propithecus diadema)
The Diademed Sifaka is a very attractive lemur with its long silky pelage. It is a large vertically clinging and leaping lemur which is widely regarded as the most beautiful of the Malagasy primates. Only the Indri is larger than this lemur. It is found in the mid-altitude rain-forest of the east and north-east. It lives in groups of eight or more in which the females are dominant.
We unfortunately only got moderate views of this species in the Mantadia NP, the animals kept high in the trees. They were probably alarmed by the presence of a pair of mating Fosa not far away.
