Washington’s famous cherry blossoms, a gift from the mayor of Tokyo in 1912, reached peak bloom on Sunday, right after it stopped raining and two hours before this picture was taken. There’s (deliberately) no parking anywhere near the Tidal Basin, and the National Park Service is threatening to close off all access to the trees if too many people come to view them due to the pandemic. We just drove past them so I could get a few shots. It was so nice to see them, even if from afar, but it was nothing like making our annual walk around the basin surrounded by the beautiful flowers.
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.
