Constitution Avenue and 2nd Street NE

Constitution Avenue is one of the main thoroughfares of the city and is how we get from Capitol Hill in the east to downtown DC and beyond, located west of the Capitol. It’s also how Tim normally gets to work and home every day, except now it’s completely blocked along with Independence Avenue, which runs parallel to Constitution but on the other side of the National Mall. Needless to say, the continuing closures have made what is normally a very short commute quite time consuming.

*****

We went down to the Capitol to see how things looked after the inauguration. A lot of the National Guard troops were gone, although some are staying for the impeachment trial, and the Capitol Police weren‘t so much in evidence on the street. Some of the roadblocks were gone, but the fences have stayed, perhaps even more fortified than before.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

I don't think anyone is resting easy yet, with all the conspiracy types running amok and a thirst to avenge "their boy". It is sad.But I hope one day soon things return to some sort of normalcy. V

Grey skies suit the mood.

Yes, when we you get your beautiful city back? Sad to think the madness hasn’t ended.

Sad and surprising to see all the security measures still in place.
It's sobering to think that it's obviously considered that they are needed. V

That level of security is sobering!
