A few images from an exhibit titled “orchids: A MOMENT” at the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, which I slipped away from work to see. It was fairly small, arranged on an interior wall, and most of the orchids were like 6 feet above my head, but I was keen on using my newly rediscovered old 105mm lens, so managed to photograph some plants that were more on my level.
I’m including this one as an example of how I still need to learn this lens (and because I think the flower is fascinating looking). I would have thought that at f8 more would be in focus, but really only the middle of the blossom is. All my captures of this orchid turned out the same, but with various parts in focus and others not. I guess I need to find more flowers to experiment on!
