Yesterday I posted an image of a male Pileated Woodpecker. The above posting is of his mate, the female. My wife goes for early morning walks close to home every morning. She told me about hearing these woodpeckers often as she passed a park area, not far from our place. This past week, I tracked them down. Hopefully, they will nest in the area. This may be the same pair that came to our backyard on one occasion in early January (See http://www.pbase.com/hankvv/image/120824236 ).
