Pitt Meadows

the rich farm land of the Fraser Valley just east of Vancouver was settled by Dutch farmers...the fertile area known as Pitt Meadows was subject to flooding, so they built an extensive system of dikes to contain the numerous rivers...this one, the Alouette River, flows into the Pitt River, which in turn flows into the nearby Fraser River
