Stawamus Chief

Squamish, B.C.

the Stawamus Chief, named after a local First Nations village, is a 700 metre tall granite cliff... a favourite with rock climbers, the Chief looms above the town of Squamish, 60km north of Vancouver

The chief has a rumpled and furrowed countenance, and shows up well in this gentle and low angle light. V

An awesome landscape, beautifully captured, Even though there's obviously plenty of
activity going on, it doesn't impinge on the sense of beauty and tranquility. V

Just my over-active imagination David, but I see a figure in the rock.
The figure is lying face down, head towards us. The right arm is thrust towards the water and the head is resting on the pine trees. The left eye visible under the shadow of the brow.
The figure is either in disturbed sleep or has died just short of reaching water.... maybe of a broken heart, grieving over lost land and kin.

Or maybe it's just a trick of the light....
