To the Guest with the Measuring Glass: I'm an avid Collector of those glasses and would appreciate a chance to acquire it or, at least, a photo of it to add to my web site (www.ameasureoftime.com) and personal image file. I am always looking to acquire these glasses and photos of any Measuring Glasses, especially those with businesses that advertised on Frigidaire Measuring Glasses. Many businesses in Florida advertised their companies on these glasses and many are yet to be discovered. Please contact at: foxyguy66@yahoo.com Thanks!

Hi Mr. Boyd,
I was searching the internet for old photos of the Freeman store for a Father's Day gift for my husband, Bill Freeman. He's Don D. Freeman's grandson. I know he would love a copy of the photo showing the inside of the hardware store. It's been 25+ years since his father, Don D. Freeman, Jr. passed and his mom Louanna is no longer with us either. My husband is the youngest of four grandchildren. His older brother is Don D. Freeman III. Thanks for sharing the vintage photos. I also loved reading all the memories from old employees and patrons of the hardware store.

I have an advertising glass from Freeman's that I bought at the Salvation Army about 20 yrs ago. It's a promo measuring glass for Frigidaire appliances with Freeman's as the store to buy them. Address was 25 Okeechobee Rd. and phone number was 88-2212.

Oh, yes, McCrory's! And Three Sisters! Hialeah was a little thriving and active city in the 50s and 60s before they built Flamingo Plaza. Also, remember the bank on Hialeah Drive just up from Three Sisters? My best friend's dad was a vice president of Hialeah-Miami Springs Bank - not sure if it started out with that name, but that's the one I remember.

Seminole...sure! Burkarts (sp?) news stand right by it and the feed store on the corner. Picked up newspapers (~4 AM) at McCrorys...Daryl Drexil (sp?) and Reilly were other carriers.

Does anyone remember the seminole lounge around this area? How about Mc Crorys and three sisters right of Hialeah drive. Now sits CVS

My first real job was with Freeman's Hdwe. Don Jr. (around 1951). I was a general flunkie. Helped deliver appliances, cleaned, etc. I remember that Charlie Bestoso was in charge of the sports dept. The Don Freeman's, Jr. & Sr., were great people.

Freeman's was actually on Okeechobee Rd just east of Palm Ave. Just to the west
of it was a feed store. My mom, Margaret, worked for Mr. Freeman back in the late
40's early 50's. She sold Frigedaire and Maytag appliances. She use to take some of
the family laundry to demostrate the washing machines. The back side of the store
was on E. 1st st. Calvert's Air Cond. was just to the east of Freeman's back door.
It was more than a hardware and appliance store is was a "Five and Dime". Don Jr.
went on to become Mayor of Miami Springs.

Don,
I believe this was on Palm Avenue, Freeman's also had a department store on
Palm Ave in the 400 or 500 blk

I don't believe so. Homes and businesses weren't developed north of 49th Street in the 20s and probably not until the late 40s/early 50s. Don
