1912 - The Class of 1912 at Miami Senior High School

Miami, Florida

A distinguished looking group of Stingarees. According to the information on the photo, D. Earl Wilson is last on the right, 3rd row back.

According to the Miami Herald on July 16, 2010, Miami High opened in 1903. The school's current structure was built in 1926 on 17 acres and was opened to 264 students in 1928. It is currently the only high school in the county listed on the National Register of Historic Places, for its 1920s-era architecture.

I attended Beach High from 1952 and graduated in 1955. Miss Roberts was a great English teacher. Mr. Lessner was Dean of Boys. A lot of us would go up the block to "Dolly's," for lunch. The luncheonette was owned by the parents of one of us, whose name may have been Bishop. There was a cigarette machine there. It went wild one day and started pouring out many packs. Some of us grabbed all we could and took off up the street.

Wow how times have changed. Today students wear pants that are always falling down with underwear sticking out.
