Thank you to Ellie Wheeler for contributing this great old image of a matchbook cover from Majorette Hamburgers, a popular drive-in restaurant on NW 79th Street in Miami in the 1950's.
Ellie says: "I also loved the Majorette and my sister and I went there often in the summer of 1956. I still remember "Heaven On Earth" by the Platters was A-4 on the jukebox."
Note the 6-digit telephone number which indicates the age of the matchbook cover to be prior to 1957/1958 when telephone numbers were converted to 2-letter prefixes (PL=PLaza, FR=FRanklin, etc.) plus 5 digits to make telephone numbers 7 digits. The 2-letter prefixes were abolished when area codes were implemented in South Florida in the early 1960's under the North American Numbering Plan (NANP).
Thanks to David Glantz, grandson of Albert and Fay Glantz, owners of the Majorette, I now have a photo of the drive-in displayed in this gallery, specifically at http://www.pbase.com/donboyd/image/158264003 .
