Thank you to Greg Hattaway (2nd boy to the right side of Mr. Chinn) for contributing this great old image. It can be viewed at the largest size by clicking on "original" below. Greg says: "There are several 1966 HHS graduates in this photo: Richard Spaseff, Gary Franklin, Ray Lawson, Gary Miller and (Harry) Stanley Counts (now deceased) to name a few. I am sure there are more, I just don’t recall. I think Philip Unger is in the picture, he went on to graduate from Miami Springs. Funny thing, I remember the girl’s first names, but not their last." Greg had Mr. Hattaway for a teacher for 4th and 5th grades.

And then Gary writes: "After sending the photo I think I identified some other people in it. I found Gary Franklin, Leroy Owens, Darion Avery (next to Mr. Chinn), Bob Gurnic and I believe the young lady in the forefront of the photo is Jane Hammond."

Philip, good to hear from you. I wish I could remember all the names. Now that you mentioned Paul (Steve?) Camp I remember that he moved up to central Florida (where I am now) while we were in high school. I hope everyone in this picture are now very happy older adults!

I contacted my mother about the situation with Mr. Chinn and she said that recalled that there were allegations that he kissed a girl(s) in his class, but she thinks he was never convicted of anything. Like you said, all that happened years after we left Palm Springs.

Yes Estela, we married in 1982 after my long-time friend from 8th grade at Palm Springs Junior High (Mr. Zimmerman) introduced her to me the previous year when she and her girlfriend were having dinner at Friday's in the Falls and we were there with another buddy having drinks at the bar. We clicked from the start and I thank you for your comments which I will read to her when we're both awake tomorrow.

What? You're Mrs. Boyd's husband? Wow! My twin daughters went to PSE, an A-rated school and still is, from '91-'98 (Kinder with Mrs. White thru 6th grade). Then the 6th graders were moved to HJH the following year or the next. I will always remember Mrs. Boyd as a wonderful and sweet lady. My daughters also loved her. They, too, attended HJH from '98 to '01 and graduated from HHS in '04. We still live near the school. Please say hello to your lovely wife from me and my twins, Aileen & Denise Rodriguez!

Thank you again, Gary. I've added your comments above because the Google search engines usually pick up on the words up there but not from the comments. I can't tell you how much my wife enjoyed looking at this photo because she taught at PSE from the mid-70's until early 80's and then was the counselor there from the mid-80's until the late 90's when she left to go to Hialeah Junior High until she retired in 2007. Mr. Chinn was no longer there when she started at PSE.
