1963 - aerial view of Palm Springs Mile east of W. 12th Avenue featuring the Pizza Palace and Arnold Palmer Miniature Golf

Palm Springs Mile, Hialeah, Florida

The Arnold Palm Miniature Golf just to the west of the Pizza Palace (now a Denny's) was a popular place for teens and families with kids. The WQAM disc jockeys had at least several promotional events at the golf course which brought in more visitors. The McDonalds on the north side of Palm Springs Mile has not been built yet but Miami-based Burger King is already up and running. The infamous drive-thru liquor store just west of W. 12th Avenue is also open for business.

Pizza Palace was a great memory, then when it was abandoned it became an eyesore and relic of bygone era for years on that corner! I was actually happy when they tore it down. That's where current Denny's is now.

There was a charming wooden hut on Burger King side of 49th Street, it was a flower shop, the most quaint little shop I remember in early '60's. Nobody seems to remember it that I have asked on Facebook. Does anyone remember that wooden hut and the name of it?
